Teachers for Children’s Classes Needed

March 13, 2010
by Jeff

Beginning the week after Easter, we will need at least four (maybe six) teachers for our children’s classes. Right now we have one!  We need to have at least one pre-school and one elementary class for each hour.  We have a pre-school teacher, but need another and two elementary teachers.  Depending on our numbers we may need to add two more (dividing into older and younger elementary classes).  These positions aren’t nice extras, they are essential for new families with children!  If you’re available to help, please see Pastor John today!

GPS 2010: Easter Weekend and Beyond

March 9, 2010
by Jeff

This Easter will be an incredible opportunity for us to reach out to the community!  Here are the various changes and places of services that we will need to make this happen:

Easter Sunday Schedule
To accommodate the potential number of people we are inviting, we are planning on having four services on Sunday: 7:00am (Sunrise Service), 8:30a, 10:00am, and 11:30am.  We need everyone’s help during these services!  A sign-up is on the main bulletin board highlighting areas of service.  Specifically, we are looking for nursery workers and greeters. However, we also need service-goers!  What we don’t want is a service with 10 visitors and no one else. Please consider coming to one service for yourself, then staying to work another service, and then hanging around to see if you’re needed to fill out another service with a low number of visitors.  The fellowship hall will be stocked with coffee and snacks where you can pray and fellowship if you’re not needed.

The Week After Easter Schedule
Okay, so what happens if a lot of people show up on Easter and then many of them come back the next week?  We want to be prepared, so we are planning to have two services for the initial weeks after Easter.  If they are not needed, then we will go back down to one service, or make other changes based on need.  We will be offering Bible Study and Sunday School during both times–new classes which will begin that week.  All other classes will wrap up the week before Easter.  This means we will need at least three more children’s classes teachers.  There will be lots of other areas of service in the coming weeks. Please be prayerful and open to serving!  Also, we want our members to understand that these changes are a temporary solution to the very good problem of having lots of new people!  Our long-term plan is not to have multiple services, but to gather together as one body each week in one service in the new building.

20 Days of Prayer

March 1 begins our 20 Days of Prayer.  Here is a Prayer Guide you can download to direct you in praying for our Gospel Proclamation Strategy over the coming weeks.

GPS 2010: Gospel Proclamation

February 24, 2010
by Jeff

There are several events coming up soon that will form the core of our efforts to reach our city for Christ this year. Please read over and note carefully these events on your calendar. Plan to make these things a priority this year!

20 Days of Prayer: March 1-20

Praying at home, praying through and for the community—we are seeking God’s face as we prepare to launch out into the city with the gospel. This will be an emphasis in our gathered services, and city prayer walking/driving, but should also be an emphasis in your own prayer life. Look for a prayer guide related to this soon.

Missional Prayer Event: March 20
The culmination of our 20 Days of Prayer will be Saturday, March 20. Here we will gather together for a special prayer service in the morning, then go out into the city for prayer, gathering back together for lunch and fellowship.

Gospel Advance: March 27
This day will require a large measure of commitment as we go to 2500 doors across the city, dropping off door-hangers containing a gospel tract and an invitation to come to our Easter service.

Outreach Easter Service: April 4

As we do every year, we will gather together to celebrate the Risen Savior on Easter Sunday. However, this year, the emphasis will be different. Having invited 2500 individuals or families, we will need to be flexible as to what we usually do this year, with the goal of reaching our city with the gospel in prayer, song, and word through a display of Christ-like love.

Discipleship: April 11

We are praying that the Lord brings a harvest on Easter Sunday. And if he does, what do you do with several new believers? Make disciples. The elders aren’t sure what form this will take, but we are thinking it will involve the assimilation of new people into our
community groups (possibly the formation of new groups), and some kind of Basics of the Christian Faith sermon mini-series. Please pray for us to have wisdom in this, and be prepared to join as we seek to make disciples for the glory of Christ.

Hope for Haiti from Michigan

February 24, 2010
by Jeff

In accordance with Jesus’ command
to love our neighbor (Matt 22:39), and
James’ instruction to show our love of
God by caring for orphans and widows
(1:27), it’s only appropriate to give
assistance to those in Haiti. We have
already highlighted at our church
website ways you can give financially
directly to the Haitian Church (cf. John
13:35; Gal 6:10). But there is also a
way for you to help more
broadly. SBC Disaster Relief from

here in Michigan is collecting“Buckets of Hope.” These are buckets you buy and fill with SPECIFIC items (listed on the flyer). You then bring these buckets back to the church, and we will deliver them to the pick uparea. Please see Denise Taglauer(Deaconess of Missions) if you have any questions.
