This Saturday, we are bring to culmination our 20 Days of Prayer with a special day of prayer for us and our city. We will begin at 9:00am with a special prayer & praise service. After that, around 10:00am we will head out to pray for the neighborhoods that we will be inviting to our Easter services. Then, we will gather back at the church for a light lunch at 12:00pm to fellowship and celebrate what God is doing in our city. Come hungry for God! [UPDATED]
Sunday the Re-naming Team & Elders recommended a new name for BBC. That name is Crossway Christian Church. You can read about the process for choosing this name and why it was picked by downloading this document: NewNameAnnouncement.
Beginning the week after Easter, we will need at least four (maybe six) teachers for our children’s classes. Right now we have one! We need to have at least one pre-school and one elementary class for each hour. We have a pre-school teacher, but need another and two elementary teachers. Depending on our numbers we may need to add two more (dividing into older and younger elementary classes). These positions aren’t nice extras, they are essential for new families with children! If you’re available to help, please see Pastor John today!
Help us prepare to distribute our invitations are we stuff 2500 packets and fellowship with one another. The fun will begin at 6:00pm!
We have an immediate need for a regular, weekly teacher for the pre-school class. If you’re interested, please contact Pastor John today.
This Easter will be an incredible opportunity for us to reach out to the community! Here are the various changes and places of services that we will need to make this happen:
Easter Sunday Schedule
To accommodate the potential number of people we are inviting, we are planning on having four services on Sunday: 7:00am (Sunrise Service), 8:30a, 10:00am, and 11:30am. We need everyone’s help during these services! A sign-up is on the main bulletin board highlighting areas of service. Specifically, we are looking for nursery workers and greeters. However, we also need service-goers! What we don’t want is a service with 10 visitors and no one else. Please consider coming to one service for yourself, then staying to work another service, and then hanging around to see if you’re needed to fill out another service with a low number of visitors. The fellowship hall will be stocked with coffee and snacks where you can pray and fellowship if you’re not needed.
The Week After Easter Schedule
Okay, so what happens if a lot of people show up on Easter and then many of them come back the next week? We want to be prepared, so we are planning to have two services for the initial weeks after Easter. If they are not needed, then we will go back down to one service, or make other changes based on need. We will be offering Bible Study and Sunday School during both times–new classes which will begin that week. All other classes will wrap up the week before Easter. This means we will need at least three more children’s classes teachers. There will be lots of other areas of service in the coming weeks. Please be prayerful and open to serving! Also, we want our members to understand that these changes are a temporary solution to the very good problem of having lots of new people! Our long-term plan is not to have multiple services, but to gather together as one body each week in one service in the new building.
March 1 begins our 20 Days of Prayer. Here is a Prayer Guide you can download to direct you in praying for our Gospel Proclamation Strategy over the coming weeks.
There are several events coming up soon that will form the core of our efforts to reach our city for Christ this year. Please read over and note carefully these events on your calendar. Plan to make these things a priority this year!
20 Days of Prayer: March 1-20
Praying at home, praying through and for the community—we are seeking God’s face as we prepare to launch out into the city with the gospel. This will be an emphasis in our gathered services, and city prayer walking/driving, but should also be an emphasis in your own prayer life. Look for a prayer guide related to this soon.
Outreach Easter Service: April 4
Discipleship: April 11
