Fellowship in Community

As our new community groups kick off, it’s important to remember some of the themes we’ve seen recently. Namely, that we remember Jesus’ command to love one another as Jesus loved us (John 15:12). While, this command is not limited to those we know best, it’s certainly easiest to express this command with those closest to us. The most obvious way to glorify God by loving his people is to begin loving those in our community groups. This might mean helping them with physical needs, making plans easier for others, spending time during the week praying for them, or just about anything. The thing to remember: if we do not love one another—genuinely, sacrificially—then we invalidate our witness to the world. Jesus said, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Let our community groups not only be a means of grace to encourage you in your walk with God, but use it as a means to serve your brothers and sisters in Christ.
