Church Highlights – Jan 5, 2014
Community Groups in 2014 – Tonight. Community Groups will begin tonight with an all-group study on Uncommon Community. This dvd study will help develop our expectations for our groups in the coming year(s). Meeting at the church building, we will begin at 6:00pm for four weeks. After that groups will meet in their regular locations. Feel free to bring some light refreshments for our evenings together. If a change needs to be made or you would like to sign up for a group, please contact one of the elders.
Women’s Leadership Training – January 5. Crossway believes that the Scriptures teach a complementarian view of men and women. Simply put, this means that though men and women are completely equal in worth and ability, God has nevertheless created them for specific roles in the family and local church. Nevertheless, this belief does not lead us to limit the training we offer members. Thus, this year, we are kicking off our year’s training classes by offering a Women’s Leadership Training class. This class is for any woman who would like to be better equipped at teaching a class, leading a Bible study, discipling younger believers, or even more intently shepherding their children at home.
Members Meeting – January 19. Members Meetings are a quarterly opportunity for us to hear from our ministry leaders on what God is doing at our church. It is an opportunity to look ahead and pray. It is also an opportunity to ask questions and fellowship with one another. The meeting will begin after a pot-luck meal. All members are encouraged to attend and bring something to share for the meal.
2 Year Bible Reading Plan. UPDATED. Some of you are finishing up our churchwide reading through the whole Bible in two years. Others of you began in year 2. Still others followed your own plan. Beginning January 1, we invite you to join us again in this reading journey through God’s Word. Look at the insert in this week’s bulletin and on our church website for more information. There’s still time to begin, if you haven’t already.
Mission Trip 2014 – Niger (West Africa). Next year, we will be sending another mission team to work alongside our partners in Niger. This team will be different than others as our partners have asked us to prepare some material for children—think VBS, but nothing like VBS. This trip will be in early August. Preparation involves required team meetings and training. This is an “open team” so if you’re interested in going, please fill out an application and return to Pastor John.
Book Shop Help Wanted. We are looking for someone to help man the Book Shop after Sunday services. If you’re interested, please see Pastor John.
